UFC Hall of Famer Suspended

It was announced today that the California State Athletic Commission has suspended UFC and MMA veteran and "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock for one-year following a positive test for 3 banned substances.  Shamrock had appealed the suspension but to no avail. The positive test came after the conclusion of Shamrock's latest fight, a win over Ross Clifton on February 13, 2009.  The fight was Shamrock's first win since 2004, and helped snap a personal 5 match losing streak (Shamrock had also been knocked out in the first round of each of his previous five fights, OUCH!).

Reports indicate that other states will uphold Shamrock's suspension and his latest fight where he was scheduled to battle Bobby Lashley (A former World Wresting Entertainment Superstar) in the Main Event of a mixed-martial-arts portion of the pro boxing/MMA hybrid show at the Pensacola Civic Centre on March 21st, 2009 will NOT happen. Eight-time world boxing champion Roy Jones Jr. is scheduled to take on Omar Sheika in the Main Event of the boxing portion of the show.

This may lead some to wonder if the UFC Hall of Famer may have also been taking banned substances back in Shamrock's days with the World Wrestling Federation?

Kudos to the California State Athletic Commission for getting this one right!
