Your 2009 Toronto Blue Jays Roster

Awesome Logo - Mediocre Team.

Here is my prediction for the opening lineup with explanations ( if nessecary)

P - 32- Roy Halladay: No explanation needed.

1B - 35 -Lyle Overbay: I would like to see Lind as a first baseman, but it seems as if he's being groomed for that coveted left field spot. So until Overbay snaps his shoulder or elbow this year, He will stay in the 1B slot.

2B - 2 -Aaron Hill: fan's were deprived of a great player early in the season last year when Eckstien felt a little threatened and took him out for the season with a head injury, Aaron Hill's triumphiant return to the diamond this season will be welcome and Toronto owes it's fans a comeptent second basemen to start the season.

SS - 6 -John Macdonald: Amazing defensive player, not so great on offense but is Improving. Also, he's better then Marco Scutaro.

3B- 33 -Scott Rolen: Rolen was sidelined with a sore shoulder for a period of the season last year and hadn't recovered come season's end. I'm hoping he's in prime shape this year because I really hate Jose Bautista.

C - 20 -Rod Barajas: The Blue Jays don't have another catcher. Congratulations Rod, you had Absolutely no competition and you perservered. Way to be better then a brick wall.

LF- 26-Adam Lind: Once again, I would love to see this guy playing first base. But...you know, we already have a big, slow, dumb-looking lefty there.

CF -10- Vernon Wells: According to the Jay's page he's active, so why not put him in?

RF -15- Alex rios: Once again, a no brainer. I can't wait to get all nostalgic when I see Rios squint in the air, then scramble to get under the ball and barely catch it.

DH -45-Travis Snyder : Who else is going to fill this position? Bautista? Scutaro? ha.

Batting Lineup

1. Overbay

2.Hill

3.Rios

4.Wells

5.Snyder

6.Lind

7.Barajas

8.Rolen

  1. Snider is going to have a great year, lets not judge Rios about his fielding he has a great arm.

  2. and good thing you have overbay leading off, with those wheels and all.

  3. snider is a way better defensive fielder then lind he'll play in left and kevin millar will dh

  4. Scutaro will start at SS, and I think the order looks like:

    1.Rios
    2.Hill
    3.Wells
    4.Rolen
    5.Overbay
    6.Snider
    7.Barajas
    8.Lind
    9.Scuataro

    Or something

  5. delete this blog, it's horrible.

  6. Good thing a "big dumb lefty" is using his wheels in the lead off position. Barajas had no competition because he won the starting role last year. Im going to go on record saying this is the worst blog ive ever read... ha

  7. just getting torched for this one eh giles? i think your blog might be loosing a bit of credibility after that one..

  8. Technically,Rios should be first. Yes he is the fastest on the team but are we trying to impregnate someone or are we trying to put runs up the board?

    so let's revise this:

    1.Hill
    2.Rios
    3.Wells
    4.Snyder
    5.Lind
    6.Barajas
    7.Overbay
    8.Rolen
    9.Macdonald

As For Barajas, He sure did a good job winning that position from an alcoholic cokehead and Curtis Thigpen. Way to reach for the stars there

  9. Snider is spelled with an 'i' not a 'y' and he will wont hit clean up this year in what is basically his rookie season, its way too much to ask from him. And despite what overbay did with the bat last year after being hurt, he is a decent defensive 1st baseman and is way better than lind who im not sure has ever played 1st in his life. just like overbay has never hit leadoff before

  10. Barajas is a perfectly good catcher. Won the job lst year.

What the hell does Rios being fast have to do with impregnating women?

    I actually don't get it

  11. you really want Rolen to bat near the end of the Line-up eh? He may be the biggest Slugger and best proffesional we have and put him at 8th? your rediculous

  12. what I'm saying is it's not a race, You put someone that can get on base in the leadoff, not nessecarily the fastest person on the team. granted, speed is an asset but putting your fastest up front leaves the slow guys to fill out the rotation.
and Graham, where else are you going to put a lefty besides the outfield or first base? all i'm saying is they should give lind a shot at 1st just in case anything else happens to Overbay

  13. rolen has a bad shoulder, can't hit like he used to

    ReplyDelete
  14. No, it's not definitely the fastest person who hits leadoff (although, it usually is) but just because Rios' OBP was 0.22% lower than Overbay's, does not grant Overbay the top spot

    ReplyDelete
  15. Barajas can play first and so can millar, millar is actually decent so i dont think lind will get much if any time over there.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lind and Snider are spliting time in LF and possibly DH'ing. Millar, Bautista and Barajas would get playing time at first over Lind. So I wouldn't hold your breath for Lind to play first. As for your statement sayin having your fastest player (Rios) leading off while the slow guys will fill out the rest of the lineup. Thats what you want from the top of the order. Faster players to get on base so your slower run producing players can bring them im. Please don't write another blog on baseball if its going to be as poor as this one. Your just losing credibility.

  17. The Real Starting Lineup...
    (In comparison to the projected)

    Scutaro
    Hill
    Wells
    Rios
    Lind
    Rolen
    Overbay
    Barajas
    Snider

2/9 on your original and 1/9 on your updated projected lineup. Shoulda stuck with your gut.

Well, at least you were close right...?

  18. and use a spell check next time... i think that would be necessary, not nessecary.
